Competitive Teams | Pre-Teams | Girls Compulsory and Optional | Boys Program | The heart of Pozsar's Gymnastics is its competitive program. We hire coaches with educational degrees and years of experience to ensure our gymnasts are getting the best coaching and training available. The competitive program includes pre-teams, compulsory and optional teams for girls, as well as compulsory and optional programs for boys. Pozsar's Gymnastics provides an opportunity to give girls, ages 3 – 9 years old, a fast-track path to the competitive program. The gymnasts are placed in the appropriate pre-team level, either the Little Tigers or the Hopes, based on existing skills, as well as their potential to acquire new, advanced skills. The classes group gymnasts together with common abilities and talents. Enrollment in either of the pre-teams is by invititation only. The Head Coach and Program Director, as well as class coach evaluate and rate each gymnast. Girls Compulsory and Optional programs When girls enter the competitive team program, they begin at either Level 4 or 5. Levels 4-6 consist of compulsory level routines and skills, designed, choreographed and monitored by USA Gymnastics. Our goal is to help gymnasts develop both physically and mentally, emphasizing a strong work ethic, building not only a strong skills base, but also instilling self confidence and the proper attitude needed to compete successfully at meets. The compulsory program also focuses on conditioning and how to be a team player, preparing gymnasts for the optional program. Level 7 is actually a hybrid including both compulsory and optional skills. routines. The connections, order, and choreography may be chosen individually, while still restricted by certain requirements on each event. Level 8 is the first optional level, and goes up to Level 10 and Elite. Gymnasts must ascertain certain skill requirements at each level, but there is greater freedom and choice in choosing skills and customizing routines for each indivdual. When a gymnast reaches Level 10, the most advanced level in Junior Olympics, she can often be a potential candidate for college scholarships. The next step is Elite, which is the level at which gymnasts can qualify for the Olympics Boys Compulsory and Optional programs The Pozsar's boys competitive program focuses first on conditioning and flexibility to help build an all-around athlete. All six of the Olympic events are trained and competed at Levels 4, 5, and 6. Each gymnast is first trained in the basic skills before learning more advanced elements. Self-discipline and dedication are also major factors and are strongly emphasized. |
